Every child is valued, celebrated, and encouraged to shine

Our mission statement

Barbican Pre-School believes in the strength of promoting British values to the children and aspiring them to stay safe and healthy and be the best they can be. Nurturing and educating our children in a safe, secure and stimulating environment, which allows each child to learn inclusively and develop as unique individuals. We believe in celebrating each child’s diversity and promoting excellent self-esteem and self-confidence.

Play is children’s work!

Barbican Pre-School provides care and education for children ages 2 to 4 years

We are a friendly setting with a team of 7 who are all qualified and continue to complete ongoing training to keep themselves of a high standard.

We are located at the top of East Looe within easy reach to the local Primary school where we go for transition days. We are in a purpose-built premises, consisting of a large open playroom with designated library, as well as other themed areas for specific purposes, such as arts and crafts etc. We offer an indoor/outdoor free-flow approach, with large patio doors that lead out from our main room to our wonderful garden area, consisting of a variety of resources to promote children’s physical development. Resources are situated inside and outside for the children to have easy access to them throughout the sessions.

We provide a cafe-style snack twice a day, so children can make free choices

This promotes a learning environment where we can focus on numbers and healthy eating as well as making those all-important friendships, providing a relaxed area to build on those communication and language skills. We can cater for special dietary needs if required, such as Dairy Free, Gluten Free etc.

We provide a structured routine and have found that our children like this approach knowing what is happening next within the morning routine. Our afternoon sessions are more relaxed after a busy morning of learning.

About Barbican Pre-school in Looe
About Barbican Pre-school in Looe - brushing teeth

We follow themes throughout the year, exploring seasons and events, ensuring that we provide an all-round curriculum

We follow the Big Brush Club, helping children to understand the importance of brushing their teeth, helping children to learn about their health and hygiene.

As our pre-schoolers learn and grow, we are helping them to become school ready by building on their independence, confidence, fine motor and listening skills.

We put the wellbeing of our children before anything else, and this can be seen in the smiling faces around the pre-school. We encourage a variety of different types of play to encourage the development of speech and communication, social interaction, literacy and numeracy.

Barbican Pre-School is a safe and warm environment for children to begin their journey into education. We encourage children to explore their surroundings, grow in confidence and gain excitement from their time with us in preparation for their graduation to school.
